Hands in Motion Program

Our Mission

Unity in Action's Hands in Motion Program is a volunteer-based initiative designed to uplift individuals facing or emerging from homelessness. Participants - or ChangeMakers- contribute to their community through hands-on volunteer work—whether it's cleaning parks, walking shelter dogs, or distributing food—while gaining access to essential resources that foster stability and dignity. From free clothing and hygiene kits to gym memberships for shower access, library cards, and nutritious meals, this program is built on the principle that empowerment begins with action. By serving others, participants pave their own path toward greater self-sufficiency and belonging. Below is what the program entails, as well as our eligibility guidelines and accommodations we provide.
