Paws in motion

Our Mission

The heart of Unity in Action’s foster initiative. Paws in Motion is a short-term foster program designed to ease shelter overcrowding and uplift both dogs and humans. Through compassionate care, community events, and volunteer support, we provide temporary homes and healing environments for dogs in need—while empowering individuals through meaningful service. Every paw in motion brings us closer to connection, visibility, and adoption.

What the program Entails

💗 Unity Tails - For Partnering Shelters

For adoptable dogs ready to find their forever. Unity Tails gives extra love and visibility to shelter dogs who need it most—elderly pups, bonded pairs, long-term residents, and mama dogs with puppies. These dogs are fostered in calm, home-like settings and featured at Unity in Action events to help them shine. Our goal is to reduce stress, build trust, and help each dog find the family they deserve.

Short-Term Fostering: Prioritize elderly dogs, bonded pairs, euthanasia risks, long term residents and mama dogs with puppies. Provide home-like environments to reduce stress and improve adoptability.

Unity in Action provides: housing, daily care, volunteer staffing, enrichment

Partner shelters provide: medical care, food, adoption processing

🏠 Home for Now - For Misplaced Individuals

For dogs whose humans are displaced—but not forgotten. Home for Now offers temporary boarding for dogs whose owners are facing housing instability, hospitalization, incarceration or other crises. We keep pets safe and loved while their people work toward stability. This program honors the bond between humans and animals, ensuring no one has to lose their companion during hard times.

Emergency Boarding: Support pets of owners experiencing displacement or crisis. Maintain connection while owners work toward stability
