Unity Youth Collective is Unity in Action’s afterschool and summer initiative designed to support children from low-income families and those experiencing displacement. We provide free meals, school supplies, games, creative workshops, and a strong sense of community—while offering backup childcare for parents navigating housing instability, work transitions, or crisis recovery. By creating safe, joyful spaces for kids to learn and connect, we also give caregivers the breathing room they need to stabilize, rebuild, and thrive.
Afterschool & Summer Support: Free meals and snacks served daily. Homework help, tutoring, and school supply distribution. Games, crafts, and creative expression workshops. Emotional literacy and peer connection activities
Backup Childcare Services: Emergency drop-in care for families facing displacement, hospitalization, incarceration, deportation or work conflicts. Parents or guardians can call us for emergency childcare in dire situations as opposed to children being subject to CPS. Trauma-informed staff trained in emotional support and crisis response. On-site care so parents can attend job interviews or trainings, or while they are working and need childcare. Flexible scheduling to meet the needs of working parents and caregivers
Community Integration: Events that bring families together—block parties, art shows, and storytelling nights. Partnerships with schools, shelters, and local service providers. Opportunities for youth to engage in service projects and leadership roles
Resource Navigation, Mailing Address & Storage: Help connecting families to housing programs, rental assistance, shelter alternatives, food stamps and other general assistance programs. Let families use Unity in Action as a stable mailing address for school, benefits, or job applications. Temporary storage for essentials like diapers, clothes, or school supplies.
Job Search Station: Access to Wi-Fi, computers, printers, and resume help. Partner with local employers open to hiring parents with barriers
